Salvinia natans
Origin: Europe / Asia
Salvinia natans is a common floating fern with pairs of hairy, paddle-shaped leaves. It is an extremely fast nutrient absorber — excellent for reducing nitrates in heavily stocked tanks. The hairy leaf surface is fascinating under magnification. It provides cover and shade for shy fish and bettas. It doubles in density within days under bright light. Control easily by net-removal of excess portions.
