Schismatoglottis prietoi
Also known as: Prietoi Schismatoglottis
Origin: Borneo
Schismatoglottis prietoi is a specialty aroid from the rainforests of Borneo, closely related to Cryptocoryne and Bucephalandra but grown primarily for its striking velvety leaf texture and subtle silver-green patterning. It thrives in the humid, emersed zone of paludariums where it receives moist substrate and indirect light. Though it can survive brief submersion, it is best cultivated as an emergent or splash-zone plant. Its exotic appearance and genuine rarity make it highly desirable among aroid collectors who maintain specialty paludarium displays.
Light: Low; 15–35 PAR or equivalent indirect natural light. CO2: Not required; ambient paludarium CO2 sufficient. Water: Maintain high humidity; keep roots moist but not waterlogged. Planting: Plant in rich, well-draining moist substrate in the emergent zone. Growth: Slow; very stable once established; propagate by rhizome offsets.
