Anubias nana 'Snow White'
Also known as: Snow White Anubias, White Anubias, Albino Anubias
Origin: Cultivated (West Africa origin)
Snow White Anubias (Anubias nana 'Snow White') is a highly sought-after cultivar where a natural mutation results in dramatically reduced chlorophyll, producing leaves that are white, cream, or pale green. The stark, clean colouration creates a visual anchor unlike any other aquarium plant and pairs beautifully with dark substrate and wood. It is slightly more delicate than typical Anubias due to reduced photosynthetic capacity and benefits from moderate light and clean water.
Light: low to medium light; moderate light is needed to support reduced-chlorophyll leaves; avoid intense light which may burn pale leaves. CO2: not required but beneficial; stable, clean water is more important than CO2 for this cultivar. Attachment: attach rhizome carefully to hardscape using superglue gel; handle pale leaves gently to avoid bruising. Trimming: remove any leaves reverting to green colouration to maintain the white display; regular inspection recommended. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division, keeping only the whitest sections.
