Staurogyne repens
Origin: Rio Cristalino, Brazil
Staurogyne repens is a compact, slow-growing stem plant with small, bright-green leaves that stays naturally low when trimmed. Very popular in aquascaping as it creates a neat, bushy foreground or low midground effect. More tolerant of low-tech conditions than many carpet plants. Tissue culture — free from algae and pests.
Plant individual stems directly in substrate. Suitable for moderate lighting — CO2 helpful but not essential. Trim regularly to encourage lateral branching and a compact bushy form. Low nutrient requirements compared to other foreground plants. Excellent beginner foreground plant.
