Staurogyne repens
Also known as: Low Grow Staurogyne, Creeping Staurogyne Low Form
Origin: Brazil
Staurogyne repens 'Low Grow' is a tissue culture selection of the popular S. repens, chosen for its more pronounced prostrate growth habit that keeps the foliage pressed closely to the substrate. This makes it an attractive option for aquascapers who want the familiar small, bright-green leaves of Staurogyne without the need for frequent trimming to prevent the plant lifting away from the foreground plane. It branches readily and creates a dense, uniform carpet over time. Establishment is straightforward in nutrient-rich substrate with medium to high light. CO2 is beneficial but not essential. The tissue culture form provides a clean, pest-free start. An excellent choice for Nature Aquarium and Dutch-style foreground plantings.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Regular macro and micro liquid dosing Placement: Foreground carpet Propagation: Side branches trim easily and replant; natural branching fills gaps
