Tonina fluviatilis

Tonina fluviatilis is a demanding but exquisitely beautiful stem plant from Amazon blackwater streams. Its needle-like leaves spiral elegantly around each stem in a whorl arrangement, creating an almost alien, feathery appearance. Requires soft, very acidic blackwater conditions (pH 4.5–6.0) and CO2 supplementation. Not suitable for hard Belgian tap water without significant RO dilution. A specialist plant for experienced blackwater aquascapers seeking unique textures.

Soft acidic water essential: pH 4.5–6.0, KH 0–3. CO2 required. Medium to high light. Temperature 24–30 °C. Pure RO water or rain water mixed with tap. Supplement with comprehensive liquid fertiliser. Very sensitive to hard water.
