Helanthium tenellum
Origin: South America
Helanthium tenellum 'Green' is a slender, grass-like plant from South America that forms attractive tufts of narrow green leaves and spreads readily via runners to create natural-looking foreground groups. An undemanding species that performs well even in lower-tech setups without CO2 injection, making it one of the more accessible carpeting plants for beginners. Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow tissue culture cup with approximately 25 sterile plantlets.
Plant individual rosettes 2–3 cm apart. No CO2 required, though it accelerates runner production. Medium lighting produces steady growth; low lighting slows spread. Fertilize monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Propagates naturally via runners — trim daughter plants and replant to densify the carpet. Tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.
