Hemianthus callitrichoides
Origin: Cuba
Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' (HC Cuba) is one of the smallest aquatic plants in the world, producing tiny, round, bright green leaves on creeping stems that form an incredibly dense, fine-textured carpet across the substrate. A cornerstone plant of high-tech nano tank aquascaping and competitive Nature Aquarium style layouts. Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow tissue culture cup with approximately 25 sterile plantlets.
Plant tiny pinches 1 cm apart in fine, nutrient-rich substrate. Absolutely requires CO2 injection (>25 ppm) and high lighting (> 60 PAR at substrate minimum). Without both, HC Cuba will melt or grow upward rather than carpeting. Dose comprehensive macro and micro fertilizers daily or every other day. Trim with curved aquascaping scissors to maintain density. One of the most demanding but rewarding aquarium plants.
