Lilaeopsis brasiliensis
Origin: South America
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a fine-leaved foreground plant from South America that produces a dense, grass-like carpet of short, narrow, bright green blades under good conditions. It spreads steadily via runners and is less demanding than Eleocharis or Glossostigma, making it a good intermediate choice for aquascapers seeking a natural grass carpet without extreme high-tech requirements. Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow tissue culture cup with approximately 25 pest-free plantlets.
Plant small pinches 1–2 cm apart in nutrient-rich substrate. CO2 injection and moderate to high lighting significantly accelerate carpeting. Growth is slow without CO2. Root tabs or nutritious substrate support runner production. Trim regularly to maintain a tidy, compact lawn effect. Pest-free tissue culture format makes it ideal for shrimp tanks.
