Micranthemum tweediei
Origin: Argentina
Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' is a popular foreground carpeting plant from Argentina with small, rounded, bright green leaves that create a lush, rolling lawn effect across the substrate. Significantly easier than Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' and achievable with moderate lighting and CO2 supplementation, making it one of the most practical carpeting plants for intermediate aquascapers. Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow tissue culture cup with approximately 25 sterile plantlets.
Plant small pinches 1–2 cm apart in nutrient-rich substrate. CO2 injection and medium lighting (40+ PAR) produce reliable carpeting within 4–8 weeks. Without CO2, growth is possible but very slow. Dose comprehensive macro and micro fertilizers regularly. Trim with curved scissors to maintain carpet density. Pest-free tissue culture format ideal for shrimp tanks.
