Sagittaria subulata
Origin: North America, South America
Sagittaria subulata is an extremely versatile American eel grass with narrow, ribbon-like bright green leaves that grow at varying heights depending on light intensity — shorter and more grass-like under intense light, taller and more flowing in lower light. It spreads freely via runners to fill open substrate areas naturally. One of the easiest and most forgiving aquarium plants available, ideal for beginners and community tanks. Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow tissue culture cup with approximately 25 clean, pest-free plantlets.
Plant individual rosettes in substrate 3–5 cm apart. No CO2 required. Thrives in low to high lighting. Spreads rapidly via runners — trim daughter plants to control spread or allow free colonization of substrate. Root tabs or nutritious substrate support vigorous runner production. One of the most bulletproof aquarium plants.
