Bacopa caroliniana
Origin: North America
Bacopa caroliniana is an attractive stem plant from North America with small, rounded, fleshy-succulent-like leaves in bright green that develop a warm reddish tinge under high lighting. A slow but reliably steady grower, it works well as a midground or background accent in planted aquariums and community tanks. Its thick, succulent leaves are somewhat resistant to herbivorous fish. Supplied as a healthy Tropica potted plant.
Plant individual stems in substrate. No CO2 required but helps accelerate growth. Medium lighting is sufficient for green coloration; higher intensity brings out the red tinge. Trim the tops and replant side shoots for denser growth. Has a pleasantly aromatic quality when leaves are crushed above water. Compatible with a wide range of water chemistry conditions.
