Rotala rotundifolia is a perennial favourite background stem plant, producing masses of small, rounded leaves along freely branching stems that shift progressively from green at the base to vivid pink and red at the growing tips under high lighting intensity. Plant bunches of 5–7 stems in substrate. CO2 injection and medium to high lighting intensify pink-red coloration. Trim tops regularly and replant cut pieces to develop a full, layered background.
