Vallisneria spiralis is a classic, long-established aquarium background plant with long, ribbon-like green leaves that spiral gently and sway beautifully in water current, creating a natural river or lake effect. Extremely easy to grow and propagate, it rapidly fills background areas via runners and tolerates a very wide range of water conditions. Grows in virtually any water conditions including moderately hard to hard water — unlike many plants, it tolerates higher KH. Spreads prolifically via runners.
