Typha minima
Origin: Central Europe, Asia
Typha minima produces slender grass-like leaves and petite rounded brown seed heads at a fraction of the size of the common bulrush, making it perfectly suited to smaller garden ponds, patio water features, and the increasingly popular 'mini-vijver' trend in urban Dutch gardens. Grow in up to 15 cm of water for best results. A tidy, well-mannered marginal that stays in scale with modest water features.
Plant in full sun in up to 15 cm of water. Suitable for small containers and mini ponds. Remove old stems in autumn. Hardy perennial tolerant of mild to moderate frosts. No special feeding required. Can be divided every 2–3 years to maintain vigour.
