Vallisneria americana Gigantea

Vallisneria americana 'Gigantea' is the largest Vallisneria species with broad, ribbon-like leaves that can exceed 100 cm — reaching the surface of even very tall tanks. In large aquariums (200+ L) it creates a dramatic background forest effect with its tall, flowing leaves swaying in current. It spreads rapidly via underground runners. Highly alkaline water tolerance makes it ideal for hard water cichlid tanks.

Light: medium. No CO2 required. Tolerates hard, alkaline water — ideal for African cichlid tanks. Spreads aggressively via runners. Background only for large tanks.
