Vesicularia sp. 'Erect' is notable for its distinctive upright, erect growth habit — unlike most aquatic mosses that creep or drape horizontally, 'Erect' grows with a pronounced vertical orientation, producing tufts and clumps that stand upright from the attachment surface. This growth habit creates exceptional three-dimensional texture in the aquarium and makes it a standout alternative to conventional creeping moss varieties. The colouration is mid-to-bright green.

The upright growth means that 'Erect' is best viewed and placed where its structural habit can be appreciated — as a foreground or midground accent where the vertical tufts are clearly visible from the front glass. It tolerates a broad range of conditions and grows without CO2, though moderate lighting and liquid fertilisation improve the density and colour of the upright growth. It is an excellent choice for aquascapers looking to add textural variety to hardscape compositions without relying solely on conventional creeping or pendant moss forms.

CO2: Not required; moderate CO2 improves growth density and the integrity of the upright tufts. Fertilisation: Bi-weekly liquid micronutrients; the erect growth habit is best maintained in nutrient-sufficient conditions. Placement: Attach to rocks or driftwood in foreground or midground; position where the upright tufts are visible from the front. Propagation: Divide the moss clumps and re-attach upright tufts to new hardscape surfaces with thread or glue.
