Microsorium pteropus 'Undulata'
Also known as: Wavy Java Fern, Undulata Java Fern
Origin: Southeast Asia
Wavy Java Fern (Microsorium pteropus 'Undulata') is a cultivar distinguished by its consistently undulating leaf margins that create a rippled, wavelike appearance along each frond. This undulation adds movement and visual rhythm to planted tank layouts and softens the otherwise linear form of standard Java Fern. It is as hardy and undemanding as any Java Fern variety, making it an excellent choice for planted tanks of all sizes.
Light: low light; wavy fronds are maintained under all typical aquarium lighting conditions. CO2: not required; grows reliably without injection. Attachment: secure rhizome to hardscape with thread or superglue gel; never bury the rhizome. Trimming: trim old fronds at the base as the rhizome grows forward; harvest leaf-tip plantlets regularly. Growth: slow; propagate via rhizome division or leaf-tip plantlet removal.
