Vesicularia ferriei
Also known as: Weeping Moss
Origin: China, Asia
Weeping Moss (Vesicularia ferriei) is native to China and produces uniquely pendulous fronds that hang downward rather than growing horizontally like most mosses. When attached to elevated driftwood branches or overhanging rock ledges, the drooping effect is particularly striking. It is gentle to grow and pairs beautifully with wood-heavy, nature-style aquascapes where the cascading effect mimics overhanging riverbank vegetation.
Light: low light; grows well without high-intensity lighting. CO2: not required; CO2 and soft water enhance the richness of the green colour. Attachment: attach to the top or sides of elevated driftwood to showcase the drooping growth habit. Trimming: trim to prevent excessive build-up; remove yellowed inner portions periodically. Growth: slow; propagate by separating healthy clumps and reattaching.
