Microsorium pteropus 'Windelov'
Also known as: Windelov Java Fern, Lace Java Fern
Origin: Southeast Asia
Windelov Java Fern (Microsorium pteropus 'Windelov') was developed by Tropica and named after founder Holger Windelov. Its defining feature is the finely branched leaf tips that split multiple times to create an intricate, dendrite-like lace pattern. This cultivar is one of the most widely grown Java Fern varieties, prized for its ornamental leaf form combined with the full hardiness characteristic of all Java Ferns.
Light: low light; tolerates even very dim conditions with slower growth. CO2: not required; a balanced liquid fertiliser improves leaf colour. Attachment: attach rhizome to hardscape with thread or superglue; do not bury the rhizome. Trimming: remove brown or older fronds at their base; lacy tips are fragile — handle with care. Growth: slow; propagate by dividing the rhizome or harvesting leaf plantlets.
