Sometimes listed as bamboo shrimp in the trade, this is the same species as the flower shrimp (Atyopsis moluccensis), a large filter-feeding shrimp using fan-like appendages to capture suspended food. Known for its resilience and impressive size compared to most aquarium shrimp, it is a long-term resident of well-maintained community tanks. The common name 'bamboo shrimp' derives from its segmented body resembling bamboo stalks.
