About

Corbicula fluminea, the Asiatic freshwater clam, is a natural biological filter that continuously draws water through its siphons to extract suspended particles, microorganisms, and fine detritus from the water column. Native to Asia but widely naturalised, it is an effective and passive aid to aquarium water clarity. Best kept on a fine sand or gravel substrate where it can partially bury itself.
