About
Ancylus fluviatilis, the river limpet, is a small, conical-shelled freshwater gastropod native to clean, fast-flowing European rivers, where it adheres firmly to rock surfaces and grazes periphyton and biofilm. It is rarely available in the aquarium trade but is a fascinating and ecologically authentic inhabitant for European river biotope setups. Its strong adhesive foot allows it to remain stationary in high-flow environments.
