Ctenochaetus strigosus
Origin: Hawaiian / Pacific
Ctenochaetus strigosus — the Kole or spotted tang — is a sturdy, oval-shaped tang with a yellow eye ring, brown body with horizontal streaks, and distinctive comb-like bristle teeth. Unlike most tangs it grazes on detritus and fine algae films using its brush-like teeth, making it a great complement to larger-blade grazers like Zebrasoma. It is less aggressive than many tangs and suitable for medium-large reef tanks. Adapts well to captive conditions.
Tank: 250+ L. Feed: algae-based diet, nori, pellets. Less aggressive than most tangs. Reef-safe. One of the hardiest tang choices for intermediate reefers.
