Pelvicachromis pulcher
Origin: Nigeria, Cameroon
Pelvicachromis pulcher, the Kribensis, is perhaps the most popular West African dwarf cichlid in the hobby. Males sport yellow-green flanks and red to pink belly; females display an intense violet-pink belly especially when breeding. Cave spawners with devoted parental care — both parents guard the fry vigorously. Hardy and adaptable, they tolerate soft acidic to slightly hard alkaline water. Suitable for planted community tanks. Sold as a sexed pair for immediate setup.
Pairs in 80+ L with caves. Temperature 24–28 °C. Wide pH tolerance (6.0–8.0). Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen bloodworm. Remove other bottom-dwelling fish when breeding. Easy to breed; fry accept microworm and brine shrimp nauplii.
