Pangio kuhlii
Origin: Southeast Asia
Pangio kuhlii is the classic Kuhli Loach — a slender, eel-like fish with alternating yellowish and dark brown banding. Originating from Southeast Asian streams, it is a tireless substrate sifter and loves to squeeze into the narrowest gaps. Best kept in groups where it is more active and confident. Feeds primarily on small invertebrates and sinking foods. Peaceful with all community fish; hides readily when stressed. Sold in a 5-pack for best social behaviour.
Fine sand substrate is essential — coarse gravel injures the belly. Provide hiding tubes and dense bottom planting. Temperature 24–28 °C, soft to medium water. Feed after lights out with sinking micro-pellets and frozen bloodworm.
